Before I knew we were surrounded by wildlife!
It wasn’t long before Irene returned from San Jose. Irene Morales is the manager at Harmony. Before I knew it we were having a laugh and she invited me to go kayaking. Irene got the job at Harmony just six months ago and her husband Felipo Lopez works as a tour guide that Harmony uses on a regular basis. He was the one who took us kayaking!
We met early in the morning and drove out to river mouth where two rivers meet and form a channel out to sea. We headed up the main river away from the ocean and before I knew it we were surrounded by wildlife.
Felipo is a biologist who has a passion for birds. It was quiet amusing to see someone so enthusiastic about seeing the same bird over and over again. But when I really thought about it I realised I too have a monotones passion. Click, click, and click! It was another inspirational moment and I began to appreciate his admiration. The trees around us were smothered with birds of all kind. There were monkey’s hanging high and iguanas baking under the sun down low. They all seemed so undisturbed by us as we drifted by. I felt closer to nature then ever before.
Together Irene and Felipo have a baby boy and the three of them really bring a family atmosphere to Harmony. As a manager I found Irene so relaxed and casual. It really does give you the feeling that you can make yourself at home.
